Carey grew up in Chattanooga, TN, where she’ll tell you her life was one of growing up in the church, but never one that reflected a surrender or relationship to Christ. She attended Austin Peay University, and as an athlete was for the first time lovingly confronted by a fellow student about her life choices which led to a full surrender to Jesus Christ and the first experience of truly being discipled. She joined the Fort. Campbell (Clarksville, TN) Navigators, received training on establishing women in the Word and making disciples… she also met her husband Matt. After marriage they moved to Raleigh Durham, NC and both attended Southeastern Seminary, each earning an Masters in Divinity. In 2014, their family moved to Nashville after Matt was hired as the discipleship minister of Brentwood Baptist’s Kairos. Since that move, Carey has been discipling women within Kairos, and helping establish a core women’s team that have a heart for seeing every woman give Jesus Christ preeminence in her life and become established in her kingdom responsibilities. Carey and Matt are members of Brentwood Baptist Church, currently live in Cool Springs, TN and have 4 children: Micah (10), Joel (6), Noah(5), and Lydia (3).
Amy grew up in Chattanooga, TN, as the oldest of five children there are key moments in her life even as a young girl where she’ll tell you she learned to fully lean into the arms of Jesus. In 2003, she graduated from Belmont University and began a career in the Christian Music industry, learning about public ministry from the perspective of touring and artist management. With 15 years of working with artists, authors, and various Christian conferences, Amy would tell you her eyes were opened to amount of ground level, “worldly unrecognized” work of women’s discipleship that was not happening within churches and was challenged to begin learning what it truly meant to be a disciple of Christ and help women discover this as well. In 2013, Amy earned her Juris Doctorate from the Nashville School of Law and became a member of the TN Bar. Her discipleship training comes vicariously through the Navigators and directly from Carey and Matt Purdom. Amy is a member of Brentwood Baptist Church, and currently lives in Franklin, TN.
